Lead with Purpose. Empower Young Lives.

Newfriars College Trust is a specialist post-16 SEND provision supporting young adults aged 16–25, based in Stoke-on-Trent. Newfriars provide personalised pathways and vibrant partnerships, enabling each learner to develop skills for long-term advocacy and achievement. We support and guide young people to develop the skills they need to live their best possible life.

The Opportunity

We are seeking new Trustees to join our dedicated Board. This is a chance to use your skills and experience to make a tangible, lasting impact on the lives of young people—shaping strategy, strengthening governance, and championing inclusion.

As a Trustee, you will play a pivotal role in:

  • Strengthening governance, finance, and safeguarding

  • Supporting exceptional, innovative education in a SEND setting

  • Ensuring every learner receives a personalised, ambitious start in adulthood

  • Influencing outcomes beyond education—into work, independence, and community

    Who We Are Looking For

We value diverse professional backgrounds. While educational experience is welcome, it is not a prerequisite. We are keen to hear from individuals with senior-level expertise from any sector who share our passion for making a difference.

We welcome applications from people who bring:

    • Strategic leadership experience – from any sector, with skills in governance, finance, risk, or organisational development

    • A passion for inclusion – lived or professional experience with SEND, disability advocacy, health, or social care is valued but not essential

    • Collaborative and constructive approach – able to contribute meaningfully to Board discussions

    • Commitment to safeguarding – understanding of protecting vulnerable young adults

    • Time and dedication – to prepare for, attend, and engage beyond Board meetings

The college provides the most amazing support for the students offering a wide range of classes & opportunities. The students are lucky enough to be supported by a fantastic team of staff who go above & beyond on a daily basis.
